Ploughshares Council
The Ploughshares Council partners with Ploughshares Fund to provide core support to some of the world’s smartest nuclear policy experts, analysts and advocates. This group of savvy and strategic donors enables fully 66% of our efforts toward the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons. Through sustained financial commitments, members of the Ploughshares Council support our work to:
- Reduce the nuclear weapons budget to better fit the needs of our 21st century military
- Accelerate cuts in U.S. and Russian nuclear weapons in a manner that benefits both nations’ national security
- Promote a diplomatic resolution of Iran’s nuclear program
- Reduce the risk of nuclear conflict in South Asia
As our most important allies, we strive to keep Ploughshares Council informed through behind-the-headlines looks at current issues and opportunities in nuclear policy.
All new gifts of $5,000 or more are matched by a generous donor, literally doubling their impact.
“When the disaster at Fukushima happened, I appreciated the chance to talk face to face with Joe during a Council brownbag. He broke down what was really going on, dispelling any fears of radiation in the States, and described in detail how the increased attention on nuclear issues could help Ploughshares Fund move nuclear policy in Washington.”
- Jim Blume, Council Ambassador since 1998
