CSIS releases two new reports on peace building

The Ploughshares-funded Center for Strategic and International Studies released two related reports on the evolution of peace building.  The first analyzes peace building at the U.S. State Department, concluding that “traditional peace-building diplomacy, led by the geographic bureaus, has been uneasily and incompletely yoked with the work of the Coordinator’s Office.” The second report regards peace building at USAID, examining the evolution of reconstruction and stabilization (R&S) in the Bush administration’s foreign assistance strategy. Author Dane E. Smith ends with suggestions for reform.
