Pakistan's nuclear warheads may now number 70-90

Amidst concern that Pakistan's atomic arsenal may fall into jihadist hands, Islamabad may have quietly added to its nuclear weapons chest with the additional warheads, jumping from 60 to around 70-90.  The increase was reported in the latest edition of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. The report, authored by scientists Hans Kristensen and Robert S. Norris, links the increase to Pakistan's “pending introduction of a new ballistic missile and cruise missiles,” and features photos of a facility where part of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal is understood to have been stored. The report notes there have been at least three instances of attacks on sites related to Pakistan’s nuclear weapons. Read the report here.
