Currently President of the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs,  Jayantha Dhanapala has had a distinguished career as a national and international diplomat, peace-builder, disarmament expert and champion of the rule of law. Mr. Dhanapala was widely acclaimed for his Presidency of the 1995 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review  Conference and as Under Secretary General for Disarmament Affairs from 1998–2003. He functioned as Secretary General of the Secretariat for Coordinating the Peace Process in Sri Lanka until November 2005 now serves on the International Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission.
