Writing for the History News Network [2], Larry Wittner, a board member of Ploughshares-funded Peace Action [3], enumerates six crucial reasons to eliminate nuclear weapons. With so many reasons in favor of a nuclear-free world, including support from the public and many government leaders, he concludes, “The real obstacle is the long-term habit of drawing upon the most powerful weapons available to resolve conflicts among hostile nations. This habit, though, has proved a deeply counter-productive, irrational one. It is time to kick it—and create a nuclear-free world.”
