The United States is two years ahead of the Moscow Treaty schedule in reducing its nuclear warheads, according to Hans Kristensen [2] of the Ploughshares-funded Federation of American Scientists [3]. Kristensen noted that, over the past four years, Strategic Command decided “it can adequately meet the White House guidance with far less weapons.” Robert Norris [4] of the Natural Resources Defense Fund [5] added, “It is little appreciated or known that the two Bush presidencies have gotten rid of three-quarters of the U.S. nuclear stockpile.”
