The Next Trump-Kim Summit

Solving the world's greatest problem on the Korean peninsula

Ploughshares Fund's investment strategy makes the impact of all of our grants larger than the sum of each individual grant. Our inter-locking network of grantees, combined with our own leadership, is a powerful agent for positive change.

Our grantmaking requires expertise, and this is especially true with regard to North Korea. Ploughshares Fund Executive Director & COO Philip Yun is such an expert. Mr. Yun was a presidential appointee at the US Department of State under President Bill Clinton, serving as Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs. During this time, he was also a member of a government working group that managed US policy and negotiations with North Korea, and was part of the US delegation that traveled to North Korea with Secretary of State Madeline Albright in October 2000.

Mr. Yun recently co-authored a special report for the Nautilus Institute, suggesting President Trump might "seize the moment" to explore a security partnership with North Korea and denuclearize the Korean peninsula. Co-authors were Morton Halperin, Peter Hayes, Chung-in Moon, Amb. Thomas Pickering, Leon Sigal and Philip Yun:
