It’s been two years since world leaders finalized the historic Iran nuclear agreement in Vienna. It stopped Iran from developing a nuclear weapon without starting another devastating war in the Middle East. And it is working. In early June, Secretary of State John Kerry delivered a powerful speech at Ploughshares Fund’s annual event in San Francisco, reminding us why the deal is so important for global peace and security – and warning of any attempts to sabotage the deal through new sanctions.
Another reminder is this letter to President Trump, written by a group of 38 retired generals and admirals expressing their support of the Iran deal and calling for a diplomatic communications channel between the US and Iran. Please read their statement and listen to Secretary’s insightful words to learn more about why the Iran nuclear deal and continued diplomacy is so important to keeping the world safe.
