This is an unhappy anniversary as we mark a year since Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. As we did from the outset, Ploughshares Fund unreservedly condemns this action and we stand in solidarity with Ukraine. We condemn Vladimir Putin’s continued nuclear threats, which enabled this attack on a sovereign country. Between Putin’s continued nuclear agitation and threats, to the ongoing risk of attacks on nuclear power plants, this invasion continues to put the people of Ukraine, and indeed the world, in imminent danger of nuclear ruin. It is critical that the international community push for a return to nuclear arms control in light of Putin's suspension of the New START treaty, and Ploughshares Fund will commit to remain steadfast in our goal of reducing the threat of nuclear weapons.
