The Ploughshares Fund board of directors recently awarded $390,000 in new grants to six organizations working to prevent war and build a safer, more secure world.
“We've dodged the [war with Iran] for now, but we're not out of the woods by a long shot,” said Ploughshares Fund President Joe Cirincione. “The situation is highly uncertain. We want to make sure that the groups who are on the frontlines of the No War With Iran effort have the financing and organizers they need to see it through the rest of the year.”
New grants to MoveOn.org Civic Action (in partnership with Win Without War), J Street Education Fund, and NIAC Action will provide crucial support for activists and experts seeking to build support for diplomacy and prevent war with Iran.
“What is critical in this moment is not just the actual action of preventing war, but also making clear what the American public thinks and expects of its leaders,” said Director of Programs Michelle Dover.
A new grant to the Congressional Progressive Caucus Center will aim to build bridges between the foreign policy community and the broader progressive movement, while a grant to the Demand Progress Educational Fund will promote diplomacy through policymaker and public education efforts.
