Chain Reaction: Navigating Change

Chain Reaction: Navigating Change

WATCH THE FULL VIDEO

For the first time since the end of the Cold War we are on the precipice of a new nuclear arms race, this time with both Russia and China. Opponents of arms control are on the attack, saying we should confront recent escalations by Russia and China with more nuclear weapons. But we know an arms race is not the answer. Better diplomacy, not more weapons, will lead to a safer future.

Join us to explore how Ploughshares Fund and our partners are navigating these dangerous shifts in the nuclear landscape and re-charting pathways toward a safer, more-secure future.

A series of events so related that each one initiates the next is known as a Chain Reaction. Every year we gather leaders in our field, devoted partners, and new advocates to generate a nexus of ideas and strategies to advance policies to reduce the threat of nuclear weapons. You—and every new ally you introduce to Ploughshares Fund—represent a critical ingredient in our formula for change.

The program is set! Speakers include:

Public Addresses by:
Dr. Emma Belcher, President of Ploughshares Fund
Matt Korda, Senior Research Associate and Project Manager for the Nuclear Information Project at the Federation of American Scientists
Ben Rhodes, Former Deputy National Security Advisor to President Obama, author, and Ploughshares Fund Board member

A panel discussion featuring:
Moderator, Tom Z. Collina, Director of Policy at Ploughshares Fund
Tina Cordova, Co-founder of the Tularosa Basin Downwinders Consortium
Dr. Fiona Cunningham, Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania
Dr. Nicole Grajewski, Stanton Nuclear Security Postdoctoral Fellow at the Belfer Center for Science & International Affairs, Harvard Kennedy School of Government
Dr. Jeffrey Lewis, Director of the East Asia Nonproliferation Program at the Center for Nonproliferation Studies at Middlebury Institute

Log on 15 minutes early for our Pre-Show to hear Executive Director Elizabeth Warner share her favorite memories of Chain Reactions past in a tribute to the 10th anniversary of this important event.

Ploughshares Fund is a global peace and security foundation that believes everyone has the right to a safe and secure future. Every day we work to reduce and eventually eliminate nuclear weapons, to stop their spread and to build peace in regions of conflict where nuclear weapons exist. Our work is possible thanks to the support of foundations, corporations, and people like you.

Special thanks to our Chain Reaction Committee, the group of volunteers who make this event possible with their input and inspiration.

Chain Reaction sponsors will receive recognition on all print and electronic event materials, onscreen during the program, on the Ploughshares Fund website, and in the 2023 annual report. Sponsors also enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that Chain Reaction can be offered free for anyone who wants to join because of your support.

Sally Lilienthal Sponsor – $20,000+
A Sally Lilienthal Sponsorship honors the legacy of our founder. A gift of $20,000 allows us to make grants that respond to urgent needs, such as those that deepen and expand relationships with communities impacted by the production, use, and testing of nuclear weapons.

Advocate Level Sponsor – $10,000
As an Advocate, you support activities to better understand and shift public perspectives about nuclear weapons. For example, $10,000 is the average cost of surveying nuclear weapons issues like polling on support for a $100 billion shift from military to non-military spending, as outlined in the People Over Pentagon Act.

Activist Level Sponsor – $5,000
An Activist Level sponsorship helps educate and support the next generation of activists working to eliminate nuclear weapons. For example, $5,000 covers the cost of a fellowship to develop new voices focused on the interconnection of nuclear weapons and other issues like climate change, racial justice, and health security.

Expert Level Sponsor – $2,500
As an Expert, you help amplify the work of respected experts and analysts working to demonstrate safer, saner nuclear policies. For example, $2,500 covers the cost of one educational briefing for policymakers and their staff on critical topics like diplomacy and future arms control with Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran.

President’s Ticket – $1,000
As the president of Ploughshares Fund, Dr. Emma Belcher is reinvigorating the nuclear weapons policy field with a bold vision for peace and security. Show support for her leadership with a President’s Ticket.

Virtual Single Ticket – $250
General admission for this event is typically $250 per person. If you’re able, please consider supporting Chain Reaction at this amount.
