Don't fund nuclear weapons from economic stimulus

Representatives from 23 state and national organizations, including Ploughshares Fund's Director of Government Affairs Terri Lodge and 16 other Ploughshares grantees, delivered an emergency letter to the Senate calling for the elimination of $1 billion for the National Nuclear Security Administration in the economic stimulus package. "This money is not a cost effective way of accomplishing S.336’s primary stated goals of creating jobs, restoring economic growth and strengthening America’s middle class," adding that the money is unlikely to toward the prevention of terrorism.
