Meet Julia's Circle
Mother’s Day for Peace continues a long tradition of women who have led movements to build a more peaceful world.
Julia’s Circle, named in honor of the original Mother’s Day for Peace founder Julia Ward Howe, works with Ploughshares Fund to build women’s leadership around nuclear security issues, funding grants that celebrate, educate and train female political leaders at all levels of government. Composed of leading women philanthropists from across the country, Julia’s Circle acts to strengthen women’s voices in today’s national security debates. We believe women have an important role to play in building a global consensus for the elimination of nuclear weapons.
In addition, Julia Circle members help raise awareness about peace and security issues. In their own communities and through the media, Circle members work to explain how reducing and eventually eliminating nuclear weapons enhances our national security and personal safety.
