North Korea's nuclear test: South Korean reaction

In South Korea, the reaction to North Korea’s recent nuclear test was overshadowed by grief at the death of former president Roh Moo-hyun, according to Kiho Yi of the Nautilus Institute in an article for the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.  Public outcry at the test was minimal, with a recent poll demonstrating the South Korean people largely believe “Seoul needs to find a peaceful way in which to solve the North Korean nuclear crisis.” Yi reports he is “hopeful that such popular support for peace will lead to a practical process of denuclearization and disarmament on the Korean Peninsula.” Read more about North Korea from the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists here
