Obama's new relationship with Russia

In a televised interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, former Secretary of Defense and Ploughshares advisor William Cohen described himself as “reasonably optimistic” for improved relations between the U.S. and Russia after a two-day meeting between Presidents Obama and Medvedev.  He said, “We have been in a deep-freeze as far as our relations with the Russians are concerned.”  He discussed the importance of President Obama’s message of having a new relationship, and “let’s start examining the areas where we can agree and those where we have great contention, to see if we can make some progress in areas we have some common interest: reducing our nuclear weapons, dealing with the issue Iran getting a nuclear weapons capability.”  Cohen concluded, “We need to have a long-range, comprehensive approach to our relationship with Russia.” Watch the full video below.
