Radio a sound salvation for Pakistan

According to Jeanne Bourgault of the Internews Network, rather than too little information in parts of Pakistan, people suffer from being force-fed too much of the same fare: hateful and ignorant messages intended to frighten citizens into submission. A Ploughshares grant enables Internews to partner with Khyber Radio, a small, legal and local government-supported station provides independent, objective news to people in FATA.  Internews provides training and equipment to journalists in the region. Bourgault advises the U.S. and Pakistani governments to extend legal media licenses in the FATA as an antidote to the militants.
