Statement on Valerie Plame Tweet

We have a moral responsibility to stand up against bigotry and injustice wherever it is found

Our board member, Valerie Plame Wilson, seriously erred in retweeting an anti-Semitic article from The Unz Review. Ploughshares Fund condemns in the strongest terms what we believe to be white supremacist and anti-Semitic propaganda espoused by this site. The prejudices promulgated by this site are an affront to American values and human decency.

Ploughshares Fund works to eliminate nuclear weapons threats. Our focused mission does not mean turning a blind eye to bigotry. We have a moral responsibility to stand up against bigotry and injustice wherever it is found.

As private citizens and as a public organization dedicated to justice, peace and security, we unequivocally oppose racism, anti-Semitism and prejudice in every form. We are investigating this entire matter further.

On September 24, Ploughshares Fund Board Chair Mary Lloyd Estrin acknowledged and accepted the resignation of Valerie Plame Wilson from the Ploughshares Fund board, effective immediately.

Ploughshares Fund is a publicly supported foundation that funds, organizes and innovates projects to realize a world free from the threat of nuclear weapons.
