Sunflowers are one of multiple types of flowers known as “turnsoles,” which are plants whose stems or flowers follow the movement of the sun. Turnsole movements show the connection between the different elements of nature as well as the connection between nature and those inhabiting Earth. They also demonstrates the movement of time and beckons us to constantly pursue progress in protecting the purity of the Earth, its environments and its inhabitants.

Ploughshares exists because we and our supporters fundamentally believe people everywhere have the right to a safe and secure future free from the threat of nuclear weapons. Our collective dedication to bringing forward a brighter future is reflective of a yellow flower’s face constantly searching for the sun.

We invite you to join our mission to reduce and eventually eliminate the threat of nuclear weapons and urge you to support us as we support critical work to drive collaborative action within the nuclear field and provide funding to experts and organizations focused on mitigating the threat.
